Resident Evil Revelations or what was cut..

Guten Tag, meine freunde… Oh, well, yes … It’s just that this time I have a box from Germany. =D As in the last blog, we will look at some of the differences, and at the same time I will try to explain why you should not play HD port.

Let’s start from afar… The game itself was announced at E3 2010. They showed the first trailer, which immediately gave most fans of the series a feeling of nostalgia… Zombies, a mansion, Hunk, Chris, Jill, a ship and some strange dialogue about doppelgängers. Theories were already being built, fans were trying to predict events, but the developers happily scored big and fat on this plot… As a result, we saw a completely different scenario, but also quite interesting and intriguing. The game was released on 3DS V 2012. The reviews included the lines "If it had come out on big consoles, no one would have said a word. ". In principle, there were reasons for this… The graphics are there, the plot is excellent, the characters are interesting, the gameplay is beyond praise, the music is heavenly praise to the composer."Veronica code" Takeshi Miure and to the attached composer of the 5th part Kote Suzuki. Capcom also thought about this when players and critics accepted “Revelations” much better than the disastrous 6th, where they crammed in everything and everyone except horror. They thought and thought, and a year later they deceived those who bought a 3DS for this game (including Me), since they announced HD port on PS3, X360, WiiU, PC. The port was released, but… It turned out to be much worse than the original. However, he still sold well, and the ratings were higher than those of his brother in misfortune (I’m talking about AC: Liberation HD). So what is the problem with the port, from the point of view of a fan who completed both versions on all difficulties?? Hmm… Let’s try to figure it out.

And this is the very first trailer.

If someone has in their https://casinokelocasino.co.uk/bonus/ hands Nintendo 3DS (Or at least I saw screenshots on the Internet), then you should know that she has… Two screens. This is where the first problem with this port arises. On 3DS you played almost like the classic ones RE. That is, there weren’t a bunch of different elements looming on the screen (Except for the ammo counter, but it only appeared when aiming) and you could calmly assess the situation. Well, if you need the necessary information, then you look at the bottom screen of the console (Just like in RE Deadly Science For Nintendo DS). It’s simple. IN HD port didn’t think to remove the interface into a separate menu (As they did in the port Azure Striker Gunvolt, if you played in full screen), but stupidly blurred all the elements onto the screen under the pretext "Well everything fits!". Someone will think that this is bullshit, but in fact, this solution makes the game very easy, especially in moments of big challenges. You don’t have to frantically look at another screen, because everything is in front of you.

P.WITH. I don’t know where to include this fact, but I still thought that it would be in the section "Interface". On 3DS there was such a rather atmospheric feature – quotes from "Divine Comedy"Dante before loading the episode. If someone doesn’t catch up, then I’ll explain. In the series Revelations many elements and names are taken from works. In the first part it was a work Dante (Loved this book O’Bryan and Lansdale), in the second- Kafka (Read by the main villainess). Specifically in this part, the names of monsters, quotes – straight from there. Why were these quotes cut from HD versions – absolutely incomprehensible.

Oddly enough, there are a couple of changes. For example, the camera when aiming. IN 3DS versions there were.. TWO! Oga, how! This is a standard over-the-shoulder camera ala RE4 and… First-person camera, in which the game at first resembles Doom…Only slow. What is the advantage of such a camera?? And the fact is that the 3DS has the function of playing in 3D without any additional accessories. And such a camera, when playing in 3D, helps quite a bit, well, a little „submerges“ into the atmosphere of the game, when you walk along a dark corridor, holding your gun forward… Oh, I can’t put into words the feeling. At the port… They cut it out as unnecessary.

First person gameplay can be seen from 2:30.

Let’s move on… Also, during porting, for some reason, grenades and knives were separated. Let me explain… In the portable version, the knife was selected in the same way as grenades. On the one hand, it added delicate situations when you are in a panic looking through the slot for a knife/grenade. The other side of the coin is absolutely illogical, because the knife hangs on one side, and the grenades hang on the other. So it turns out that either “logic” or “tension”. At the port they chose “logic”..

Ooooh… My favorite point. The whole difference lies in the final difficulties… On 3DS This "Hell", at the port- "Underworld". Someone will twirl their finger at their temple and say that “So, it’s the same thing!». I’ll say"Fuck you!". So what’s the difference? It’s very simple…"Underworld" – unbalanced crap that is almost impossible to complete from the very beginning without powerful equipment. "Hell"- on the contrary, it is balanced as for "NG+", and for playing without equipment. And now the funniest part – "Hell"more difficult"Underworld". I can say this with confidence, because "Hell"I went through it for at least a month – the enemies are smarter, and the weapons are not as effective, and I already killed the last boss with tears of joy in my eyes. "Underworld"I walked in two passes for 5 hours, without even breaking a sweat and dying a couple of times. I also passed it easily when I helped my friend with this difficulty, and this despite the fact that he did not have some of the necessary parts for the weapon. But the most important thing that affects the balance of the complexity of the port… The re-release added the ability to change the costume of your partners in the single-player campaign. And then.. SUDDENLY it turns out that in Parker’s flashback you can safely put him in a suit with an ax, which brings down the Hunters with a bang! For comparison, 5-6 blows with a knife and 1-2 blows with an ax. And it works even on "Underworld". You already understand why the port is at least inferior to the original?

No one has made video comparisons of “Hell” and “Hell”, so here’s a piece of “Hell” from 3DS.

Well, in the end, we can add that the developers slightly changed the Raid. Changes affected the system for obtaining ranks (Nickname color). On 3DS it could be obtained by simply completing all missions at S-rank, on each difficulty. In older versions, this matter was complicated, since they now introduced the fourth bonus “Trinity” and two new colors… “Yellow” and “Purple”. That is, if to obtain the highest rank in the Raid – “Red”, you only needed to pass all levels to S-rank, then in the port you also need to pass at a low level, without a single scratch. Are you already wondering how long it will take you to get ranks in the older version??
I think we can end here..
