Resident Evil – By Hands of Fans!

Hi all! I decided to brighten up everyone’s anticipation a little for the graphic re-release of the 2nd part of Resident Evil by telling you about several interesting fan projects that may be of interest to fans of the famous Zombie Series and the Survival Horror genre. I hope you appreciate it)

I know, fan projects are still a dubious pleasure, but some such crafts find recognition among existing fan bases. For example, Streets of Rage Remake and Super Mario Bros Crossover. So now I will show you several interesting copies, tell you which of them you can play, and which, unfortunately or fortunately, you can forget about forever, since they were abandoned by their authors. In principle – that’s it, off we go!

TEXT VERSION!

Resident Evil 2: Survivors

Since we’re waiting for part 2, let’s talk about the Remake… The Fan Remake. And no, I’m not talking about the well-known one from the Invader Games studio… The project has been closed for a long time, and the guys have grown up and are now actively puffing on their own horror, based, only based on the Resident Evil series, called DayMare 98.

I’m talking about a simpler remake that recently surfaced online.

Resident Evil 2: Survivors, as it’s called, cannot be considered a full-fledged game, because everything is very raw, firstly, and secondly, well, this is just too conspicuous a Resident Evil 4 mod, although it is more original than countless others, where they simply change a few textures, objects and forward, everything along the same route. Of course not!

At the moment, the Campaign consists of only two locations with a couple of enemies, in the person of Marvin Bran and Brad Vickers, who are very difficult to kill, by the way.

The cutscenes are taken from Chronicles, for sure, and also seem to be from OutBreak, but I could be wrong.

We managed to test two additional modes, one for Eida Wong, where she opposes Tofu cheese, there was one in the original game, only there we had to play for it.

And also the Extreme Battle mode, which is a modification of mercenaries, all from the same 4.

This is how it is for now, but who knows, maybe after a while the guys will be able to do something more worthy, but is there any point in continuing when a full-fledged, official major re-release has already been announced?

Resident Evil – Code: Madman

There was a case, Mikami rejected the 4th massacre, starting, later everything from scratch. What was canceled – Fans dubbed it Resident Evil 3.5 and if you dig around on the net, a couple of trailers and some information is all you can find. I managed to find more, but I really dug, with a hammer and miners. I’ll tell you something about this.

For now, forget it, I was just bragging. In short, the topic is this… A certain developer under the pseudonym ShiguWorks decided to resurrect the project with his own hands, using the Unity engine, and some content from the 4th and 5th parts, but everything is so well veiled that you can’t figure it out right away.

The project is called Resident Evil: Code Madman, and it looks very good, but don’t expect any revelations. Here we have only one enemy, several simple quests, paranormal things than 3.5 was famous, actually, for starring Leon Kennedy and a creepy, truly creepy atmosphere. Everything is pretty authentic.

To my great regret, the game is closed, judging by the fact that the last time the developer’s channel was updated was half a year ago and I remember that it was then that there were rumors on the Internet that CAPCOM was actively pressuring him, demanding that he stop “this messing around” with their franchise. It’s a pity, although I understand perfectly well that 95% of all possible game content would be the result of pure author’s imagination, but I would still like to kill myself, why not??

There is a playable version online, which is more like just a demonstration of gameplay than a full demo.

Resident Evil: CrossFire

I have been following this toy https://kimcasino.co.uk/withdrawal/ for more than three years, and as you understand, it’s not without reason. Resident Evil Crossfire is a real long-term construction from Portugal, corresponding to all the canons of the classic Massacre.

I especially want to praise the puzzles and references to the original games. The developer took everything cool and skillfully implemented it. I remember that as soon as I came across the proposed beta, I was unable to complete it. Well, they didn’t teach me Portuguese at school, what do you want??! But! Today the game is available in English and it is still in beta, only significantly updated, and it may well keep you busy for 2-3 hours, depending on how quickly you get the hang of it. The 2nd scenario has disappeared somewhere, although I remember that it existed and is still provided for in history.

By the way, the events of the game take place on November 28, 1998, that is, two months after the incident in Raccoon City… The location of the action is Ashport City, where, not coincidentally, there is an outbreak of a zombie epidemic.

The narration, as I have already said, comes from the perspective of two heroes who are siblings to each other. One serves in UBCS, the other works for the government, but both of them pursue a single goal – a certain nameless shareholder of the Umbrella Corporation, the culprit of everything that happens in Ashport City.

It is clear that in addition to content from other games in the series, there is also a lot of its own. In particular, the locations are absolutely unfamiliar to me. If they were borrowed from somewhere, then where exactly from, I won’t say right away, but definitely not from the Massacre! I think he saws them himself, because you can see how empty they are and how they need filling.

Honestly, I really want to see what will come out of all this in the end! After all, the game has been sawing for a good 6 years.

Slowly, but the main thing is that the bolt on it, it seems, is not clogged yet and noticeable progress is observed from update to update. So – the developer simply cannot stop now. No way.

Resident Evil: Mortal Night

Do you know what is good about classic Rezas?? Setting! Not only this, of course, but it is the setting that allows us to tell many stories, counting in the same locations, and at the same time they do not become boring, because on a subconscious level we understand that there were many people in Raccoon City and while Leon was running somewhere there, along with Claire, these people were also desperately fighting for survival. This topic is well covered in Outbreak, but that’s not what I’m talking about now..

Resident Evil: Mortal Night! The most excellent mod of the 2nd part of Resident Evil, with a very stupid name, but how cool it is!

In fact, this is a full-fledged, large, unofficial add-on, including a completely new story, with familiar and not only characters, about 30 cutscenes, features that refresh the familiar gameplay, several new enemies, simply merciless difficulty, interesting riddles and a lot of other things that are worth spending time on, at least for avid fans of the classic Survival Horror. I can assure you that you guys will get the right amount of fun.

In addition, an updated, expanded edition should be released soon. All that remains is to wait a little, or try out the version that is currently available.

Resident Evil – Codename: Nunk –

What obviously none of you expected, for sure, is Resident Evil on the DooM 2 Engine! It sounds like crap, but I hasten to assure you that the crap is at least interesting. Let me tell you what this fruit of fan creativity is.

The developers took the matter seriously, since we have two full-fledged storylines here, for Hunk and Krauser, where we will meet not only these characters, but also Wesker, Aida Wong, as well as a fictional character, Dr. Charles Young – the creator of a new virus called TNB, which is based on T-Veronica. Twisted it – turned it straight! And also the Red Queen, Tyrants and Even Nemesis. In short – the complete package.

The most amazing thing is how they so skillfully transferred the mechanics of the 4th Massacre to the Doom Engine. I am far from understanding the complex and simple processes of modding, which is probably why I’m so impressed. Indeed, many elements are present, and the game feels like… like the 4th massacre on the Doom engine, only with Zombies! Well, or as a kind of port, on a portable bag, like a Nintendo DS.

There are all sorts of Quiktime Events, Krauser is able to Mutate, and Hunk professionally breaks necks. You can use a separate key to get a knife, the character traditionally cannot walk while shooting, a 180-degree turn and simple puzzles – they just brought everything.

The heroes in the cutscenes were somehow voiced on their own, even if some phrases were borrowed from 4 and somewhere else, a hundred pounds.

Resident Evil: Codename Hunk was made on the knee, but it’s very soulful, although not everyone will want to play it. But if you dare, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

It’s just a pity that the project is at the demo stage, whose last update happened in 2016, which gives rise to certain thoughts. However, be that as it may, one thing I can say with confidence is that this is in any way better than the shit that bears the name – UMRELLA CORPS.

Now let me show you a few copies that have already sunk into oblivion. There is minimal information there, so I’ll tell you about three at once, especially since they are all interesting mods for the 2nd Massacre!

Resident Evil: Distant Memories

And so Resident Evil Distant Memories… A project with a rather sad fate. Only people started development – they gave up! Later, having transferred the materials into the hands of other enthusiasts, and what do you think – the situation repeated itself.

The fantasy project is notable for the fact that the guys used their own location textures and therefore the unhappened game looks very much like some kind of offshoot, although in some places it is clearly visible that this is just a cleverly disguised RPD. The main heroes seemed to be Barry Burton and Rebecca Chambers, who were brought to Germany all the way.

This work, I’m sure, would have found its fans if it had been published, and who knows, maybe I would even be among them.

Resident Evil: Urban Chaos

The product is already more independent, although it is still just a mod of the 2nd Massacre, do not forget!

Presumably, the game was supposed to be an unofficial prologue to the story of Ark Thompson, the protagonist of the not very successful Survivor.

In addition to Ark, Urban Chaos also featured a female character. USS Squad survivor named Eva.

The last activity on the author’s channel was 4 years ago, so you probably shouldn’t get your hopes up… It’s a pity.

And finally.. Dark Biohazard

Imagine an alternate universe in which all members of the STARS unit died in terrible agony, with the exception of Brad Vickers, who did not die at the hands of Nemesis, but simply resigned due to extreme stress.

Apparently he was assigned some more significant role in the plot.
The protagonist is Leon Scott Kennedy, who found himself in the very center of the nightmare that shrouded Raccoon City in September 1998.

Dark Biohazard is one of the first, if not the first, attempt to mod the classic Massacre. The developer under the nickname Dominion has tweaked so many things there, from models and animations to backgrounds and enemies. Created his own version of Elsa Walker! For those who know what Resident Ivl 1 is.5 – this name should definitely say something.

The videos show that in addition to the locations from the 2nd part, there is also a Mansion, with Crimsonheads and familiar places from Nemesis, and not only.

Leon, it seems, according to the plot, was supposed to go to the Spencer Estate and sniff out the couple. You can notice that the hall looks much darker, which is what the author wanted.

Purely by ear, it may seem to you that this is just some kind of hodgepodge, but after Googling videos from ten years ago, you will understand that there was even more interesting stuff going on there.

OK! Enough! If you wish… naturally, I can collect a few more. I think I’ll scrape together. A couple are already spinning in my head.
